research

Academics across the Commonwealth understand the importance of research in order to increase knowledge, develop new and innovative ideas, improve teaching standards and enhance educational opportunities.

Examples of our research programmes are:

Centre for Commonwealth Education

In partnership with the University of Cambridge, UK, we established the Centre for Commonwealth Education, as a central hub for sharing and developing best practice in primary and secondary education and teacher professional development across the Commonwealth. The Faculty of Education is currently taking this work forward across the Faculty within a broader international context.

Lectures and Seminars

Presentations from a programme of public lunchtime and early evening presentations given by members of the Centre for Commonwealth Education and invited speakers may be accessed online from the University of Cambridge website CCE Podcasts .

Resources

A wide range of publications and papers, project briefings and reports as well as practical learning resource tools are available from the Centre for Commonwealth Education website .

LOOK (Lifestyle of our Kids) Study

Academics and doctors from Australia National University, Canberra Hospital, the University of Canberra, Deakin University and CSIRO participated in a five year multi-disciplinary longitudinal study to measure the activity levels and nutritional intake of 750 children in Australia and investigate the impact of structured physical education classes in school. In 2010 we gifted the study, including the valuable data set, to Australia National University to facilitate further research.
